THE SCHROON LAKE
WEEKLY GUIDE was created in 1942 by Milton Rayburn, who summered on Schroon Lake from his home in
Brooklyn ,
New York
with other members of the Fried/Kaufman family.
He planned it, designed it, secured advertisers, figured
the finances, etc.
The first guides were printed locally; today the guide
is printed by a
Glens Falls
printer who can print large sized posters.
Over the decades, the
original guide evolved from a weekly poster into being published as we see it
now,
printed and posted three times each summer.
Today,
the distribution area is larger and there are more
advertisers.
Schroon
Lake continues to flourish as a summer
vacation place for many visitors and seasonal residents in the beautiful
Adirondack Mountains
and they depend on the guide for “Instant Information.”
